What cookies and local storage are

Cookies are small text files a website places in your browser so it can recognize you across pages or repeat visits. Modern sites also rely on two related browser features: localStorage, which keeps data until you delete it, and sessionStorage, which clears automatically when you close the tab. This policy covers all three, because they serve the same purpose: remembering something about your visit.

What this site uses

We keep browser storage deliberately minimal. This site uses no advertising networks, no cross-site tracking pixels, and no social media cookies. Everything we store falls into one of the five groups below.

Analytics: PostHog

We use PostHog, a product analytics platform hosted in the United States, to understand how the site is used and where it can improve.

• Where it lives: a cookie whose name starts with ph_, plus matching localStorage entries (PostHog persists its state in both localStorage and the cookie).
• What it records: pageviews, automatically captured interaction events such as clicks and form submissions, and session recordings (replays of how a visitor moves through the pages). Recordings mask what you type into form fields.
• How long it lasts: the cookie persists for up to 12 months; the localStorage entries remain until you clear your browser data.
• Identification: PostHog builds a person profile only when you identify yourself: by booking a call, submitting a form or buying, or by clicking a link in an email we sent you. At that moment the browser's earlier anonymous activity is linked to that profile under your email address, through the ym_vid ID described below. All other visitors are measured anonymously.

Visit history: our first-party ym_vid cookie

Besides PostHog, we keep our own record of visits to the site, in our own database, to understand how the people who contact us found the site and used it.

• Where it lives: one first-party cookie, ym_vid, set by yamilmorales.com itself and sent only to it. It holds a random ID and nothing else; PostHog attaches the same ID to its anonymous measurement.
• What it records: the pages you view and how long you stay on each, the links and buttons you click (never what you type into a form), the campaign (UTM) parameters and the referring site of each visit, your time zone, language, browser and device, and a shortened IP (never the full address).
• How long it lasts: the cookie lasts 13 months from your last visit. The visits of a browser never linked to a contact are deleted after 180 days; when you submit a form, book a call or buy, your visits are linked to your contact and kept with it.
• Turning it off: open yamilmorales.com/?ym_optout=1 in your browser. We then store a ym_optout cookie for 13 months, delete ym_vid and record no more visits from that browser; yamilmorales.com/?ym_optout=0 turns it back on. It does not affect PostHog, which you can block through your browser settings.

Functional storage

Two small conveniences, both stored locally in your browser and never shared with advertisers:

• Booking time format: when you switch the booking calendar between 12-hour and 24-hour time, your choice is saved in localStorage so it persists on future visits. It stays until you clear your browser data.
• Campaign attribution: if you arrive through a link with campaign (UTM) parameters, those values are kept in sessionStorage so we know which campaign led to a booking or form submission. They are discarded automatically when your browser session ends.

Essential cookies: admin area only

The administration dashboard uses session cookies (set by Amazon Cognito) to keep an administrator signed in. These cookies are created only when someone signs in to the admin area; regular visitors never receive them.

Third-party cookies during checkout

Payments on this site run through Stripe (embedded checkout) and PayPal. When you open a checkout, those providers set their own cookies, typically for payment session handling and fraud prevention. We do not control these cookies; they are governed by each provider's own policy:

How to control cookies and storage

Your browser gives you full control. You can block cookies for this site, delete them, and clear localStorage and sessionStorage through its privacy or site-data settings; private or incognito windows discard everything when closed. Keep in mind:

• Blocking analytics storage does not break anything: every page and feature keeps working.
• Clearing localStorage resets your booking time-format preference.
• Blocking third-party cookies may prevent the Stripe or PayPal checkout from completing; if a payment page misbehaves, allow cookies for that provider and try again.

Consent

This site does not currently display a cookie consent banner. The most direct way to manage the storage described here is through your browser settings and the visit history opt-out link, as explained above. If we add a consent banner in the future, this policy will be updated to reflect it.

Relationship to the Privacy Policy

This policy covers the storage mechanisms themselves. What personal data we collect, how we use it, and the rights you have over it are described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Cookie Policy when the site's tooling changes. The date at the top reflects the most recent revision; any meaningful change will move that date.
